OVBT: The Wyangala Views Way*

Orange & Villages Bicycle Trail

360km | 2 to 6 days | Mixed Surface (Gravel & Bitumen)

Working it’s way around some of the most beautiful parts of the Central West and with Mt Canobolas (Gaanha-bula) at it’s centre, The Orange & Villages Bicycle Trail (OVBT) is a 360km bikepacking trail taking in most of the town and villages in the Orange Region.

Developed by Orange360 and local bike group The Treadlies, the OVBT is divided into 6 sections and can be completed in 2 to 6 days. Expect over 4000m elevation gain and a mostly bitumen route with some gravel sections. The trail also includes alternate routes for some of the sections.

A lot has been written about the trail and that info can be found on the Orange360 website. There is also a facebook page managed by the Treadlies where you can read ride reports and ask any questions you may have.

Note: see the Orange360 website for a more comprehensive map.

The larger towns on the trail with more accommodation, food and things to do options are Molong, Canowindra, Cowra and Blayney. Millthorpe and Carcoar are smaller but stunning historical towns and well worth spending time in. The range of food and accommodation in the other smaller towns along the way will vary.

I’m yet to ride the trail so can’t report on it unfortunately. With 4 days to ride I would probably overnight in Cargo, Cowra and Carcoar. If riding over 3 days it would be overnight in Canowindra and Carcoar.
