An excellent day trip or overnight option. Millthorpe is a small town about 25mins drive / 1.25hrs (35kms) ride SE of Orange. Popular with tourists especially on weekends, it’s home to beautiful tree-lined streets, two storey terraces and historic buildings. It’s an easy place to spend a few hours wandering through the shops or having a bite to eat at one of the cafés or pubs. And to cap it all off it is home to three excellent cellar doors – Angullong, Slow Wine Co and Tamburlaine.

Things to Do
Visit one or all of the three cellar doors. Spend some time browsing the boutique shops. Have lunch at a café or at Tonic (weekends). Grab a beer or meal at the Millthorpe Hotel. Spend some time at the Golden Memories Museum or visit one of the local art galleries. Follow the Millthorpe Heritage Walk.

Cafés: Providore is excellent and open 7 days, The Old Mill (Thu to Sun) and Millthorpe Chocolates Café (Thu to Sun) are also good options.
Restaurants: Tonic is excellent and is open for lunch on weekends and dinnner Thu to Sat.
Pubs: Millthorpe Hotel serves pizzas and pub classics.

Getting There
As mentioned above, by bike from Orange is about 1.25hrs (35kms) using the Millthorpe Route. By car, it’s about 25mins from Orange and around 3.25hrs from Sydney.
The XPT (train) runs from Sydney and stops in Millthorpe, check with Transport NSW about bringing your bikes. There is currently a push to allow roll-on bikes on NSW regional trains, you can support it here.
